Raffi Shirinian

Co-Founder / Principal

 

A Los Angeles native, Raffi brings to Urban Blox his passion for the city’s rich history and his vision for its continuing evolution. Raffi has cultivated a lifelong enthusiasm for Los Angeles development and extensive knowledge of the city’s many varied components.

Currently, Raffi leads acquisitions and directs company operations, project management, and development. Since the company’s inception, Raffi has raised $20M in equity and sourced a project pipeline including 50 small-lot subdivision homes, a mixed-use apartment development project, and a variety of retail/office buildings.

Prior to founding Urban Blox, Raffi worked in acquisitions for Champion Real Estate Company and Compass Acquisition Partners. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business & Communication from the University of Southern California, a Bachelor of Arts in Hospitality Management from Le Cordon Bleu, and a Certificate in Real Estate & Construction Management from UCLA Extension.

Raffi actively engages in the community by participating in many local nonprofits and associations. He is dedicated to inspiring innovation in Los Angeles as a member of Gen Next, the Los Angeles World Affairs Council, Urban Land Institute (ULI), and the prestigious Entrepreneur’s Organization (EO).

David Duel

Co-Founder / Principal

 

David brings his keen interest for innovative real estate development to the Urban Blox team. He is driven by his fascination with creating sustainable, state of the art spaces that harmonize with the fast pace of modern life. As co-founder and principal at Urban Blox, he oversees sales, acquisition transactions, and debt / equity placements. He highly values the working relationships he builds every day with investors, partners and consultants, a major contributor to his success in the early years of his career.

David’s entrepreneurial spirit has also led him to the position of co-founder and managing director of ReGreen, Inc., a diversified construction and energy services company. In just five quick years, David contributed to the company’s expansion to 100 employees and the completion of over 3,000 projects in every asset class.

David is also a co-founder and board member of Western Pacific Oils, one of the largest edible oil distribution companies in the U.S. David received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Southern California, Marshall School of Business. In 2014, David was recognized by Forbes Magazine’s “30 Under 30” list, and has also been named by Bloomberg Businessweek as one of America’s Best Young Entrepreneurs.

Currently a board member of several nonprofit and industry associations, David is invested in giving back to the community. He is an involved member of LA Clean Tech Incubator, 30 Years After, Gen Next, and the Young Presidents Organization (YPO), Beverly Hills Chapter.

Jason Grant

Director of Acquisitions

 

Jason contributes to the Urban Blox team by sourcing, servicing and underwriting new deal opportunities across targeted submarkets. He also helps extend brand awareness in the marketplace, while maintaining company rapport with real estate professionals including brokers, investors and attorneys.

Jason began his real estate career with Canyon Capital Realty Advisors, an investment management firm with over $6 billion in investments. As an analyst in Asset Management, Jason created, modified and maintained complex financial models, worked on key agreements, coordinated and executed various vendor contracts, oversaw property management and updated investor reporting packages.

In his most recent role, Jason gained experience in commercial real estate at Azzi Advisors, an affiliate of Marcus & Millichap. While there he fine-tuned a specialty in multifamily and retail sales, helping broker the sale of over $14 million in transactions.

Jason holds a Bachelor of Arts in Finance from the University of Miami School of Business. Jason dedicates his time as a cabinet member of the Los Angeles Jewish Federation, and is also involved in the Water Buffalo Club, an organization that fosters the well being of underserved and at-risk children in Los Angeles.

Rebecca Duel

Project Manager

 

Rebecca has been an integral part of the Urban Blox team since the company was founded. As a Project Manager, she oversees the many components of each project from inception to completion. Rebecca coordinates entitlement, architecture, engineering, and construction projects, and communicates among investors and consultants to ensure overall seamless operations. Rebecca thrives in the fast-paced environment at Urban Blox and actively contributes to the new acquisitions process. Additionally, she serves as supervisor for the accounting department.

Rebecca graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, and received her Master of Architecture degree from Newschool of Architecture and Design in San Diego. Aside from her work at Urban Blox, Rebecca also works on design for single-family residences. She is a LEED AP accredited professional.

Evelyn Kamkari

Controller

 

Evelyn brings over 35 years of diverse accounting experience to the Urban Blox team. A seasoned professional, Evelyn first began working in accounting when she was just 21 years old. Since then, she has escalated from entry level to the position of Controller/Senior Accountant at professional service firms in real estate, private equity, architecture/interior design and construction.

At Urban Blox, Evelyn manages all areas of accounting and finance, including oversight financial reporting, A/P & A/R, and human resources. She has extensive knowledge and experience with project accounting, cost accounting, trust accounting, cash management, financial statements, budgeting, general ledger, journal entries, bank reconciliation, AP, AR, payroll, annual tax compliance and year-end tax schedules interfacing with outside CPAs.
